Showing Respect

     R-E-S-P-E-C-T find out what it means to me! This is a classic song helps me not only to spell the word but it helps me to remember how I need to treat children. Some may be wondering why you would need to show respect to children or most will be continuing to sing the song in your head. But just like we want respect children want respect even if they don't realize it. 

     Imagine if you will a parent walks into the living room and sees their child listening to music and a mess of food and clothes everywhere. The parent begins to yell at the child and then says something to the effect of "How dare you disrespect me by not listening to me when I talk to you! You will listen to me when I talk to you!!!" Now imagine the roles reserved where the child yells at the parent and demands respect from the parent. Some might be shocked to hear a child talk to their parent that way but in reality we should be shocked at the parent demanding respect from the child. 

     The more a parent shows respect to their child the more respect they will give to the parent in turn. As we show them respect we teach them to respect the people they will come in contact with. There is no harm in showing a child respect.
